Peter Brevick - Head Coach
Peter Brevick is in his ninth year as the head coach of the Washington State University Crew. In his three years at the helm, the team has steadily improved and continues to build toward championship contention.
Brevick comes to Pullman from Oklahoma City, OK, where he has spent 5 years working with the Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation (OKCBF) and the OKC Riversport Junior Rowing program.
Peter joined the OKCBF in the summer of 2012 as Boatman for all programs, and soon took on additional roles working with national rowing adaptive camps and the junior rowing program. In 2014 he added work with the OKC National High Performance Center, which led to coaching the USA Lightweight Men’s Pair at the 2014 World Championships in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Upon returning to Oklahoma City, Brevick began coaching the OKC Riversport Novice Boys program. Highlights from the 2014-15 season included the first ever Boys points trophy for OKC at the SWEAT erg regatta, as well as wins in three of the four novice events at the US Rowing Central Youth Regional Championships. In the fall of 2015, Brevick continued with OKC Riversport, moving to the Varsity Boys Coach. Notable accomplishments from his first season with the Varsity Boys include a 4th place finish at Youth Nationals in the Pair, as well as sending two athletes to the USRowing Junior National Team High Performance camp. His last season in Oklahoma City had multiple team best performances, highlighted by finishing 13th at the Head of the Charles in the Youth Eights, and 2nd at Youth Nationals in the Four.
Brevick began rowing in 2002 at Washington State University, and began coaching at WSU as a volunteer assistant in 2007. After working in other capacities stateside and overseas for three years, he returned to WSU to coach the Novice Men for the 2011-2012 season.

Ezra Mitchell - Assistant Coach
Ezra Mitchell is from Providence, Rhode Island and rowed at Northeastern University as part of the Division I rowing program. After his time at Northeastern, he served in the Israeli military. He later continued his rowing career with Oxford Brookes. Ezra also coached internationally as part of the staff for Israel’s PR4 mixed coxed four at the Tokyo 2021 Paralympic Games. He is currently is completing his graduate degree in kinesiology at WSU.

Scott Morgan - Volunteer Assistant Coach
Scott joined Washington State University as a junior college transfer from Pasadena, California, in 1972. Initially invited to join the rowing team that fall, he declined, but accepted a second invitation at the start of his senior year and became part of Cougar Crew. In 2022, after retiring as a city finance director and certified public accountant, he reconnected with his former coach, Ken Struckmeyer, to explore ways to support the team. That conversation led to a meeting with Coaches Struckmeyer and Brevick and the start of his ongoing volunteer role with Cougar Crew. Since then, Scott has assisted with practices on the Snake River and at regattas in Spokane, Oregon, California, and Tennessee, while also collaborating with University Recreation to strengthen the team’s financial operations. He and his wife live in California and spend the fall and spring seasons in Pullman to support the team.

Evan Thornton - Volunteer Assistant Coach
Evan Thornton is a fifth-year student completing his degree in construction management at Washington State University. During his time with Cougar Crew, he rowed in the varsity 8+ for all four years and competed at major collegiate regattas throughout his career. He was also part of the first Cougar 8+ to break six minutes over 2000 meters in spring 2025, a milestone for the program. Evan is from Olympia, Washington, and began rowing in high school with Olympia Area Rowing, where he first developed his competitive experience in the sport. He plans to continue into a professional career in construction management after graduating this upcoming spring.

Cooper Page - Volunteer Assistant Coach
Cooper Page is from Kennewick, Washington, and graduated from Washington State University in 2025 with a degree in computer science. He now works in Pullman as a software engineer at SEL. During his senior year with Cougar Crew, Cooper rowed as part of the varsity squad for the entire season. He competed in the varsity 8+ that broke six minutes at ACRA 2025 and was also part of the lightweight varsity 4+ that won WIRA 2025. These performances marked some of the top results of his collegiate rowing career. Cooper now contributes to the program as a part-time volunteer assistant coach, working with the team year-round while continuing his professional work in software engineering.

Petros Boufis - Volunteer Assistant Coach
Petros Boufis is from Piraeus, Greece, and is currently at Washington State University completing his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, specializing in equine care. Before coming to the United States, he rowed competitively in Greece and gained additional experience working with and coaching the Greek national team. Petros brings his background in high-level rowing and coaching to Cougar Crew while continuing his graduate studies at WSU.
