HEAD OF THE SPOKANE

The Cougs Traveled north to the Spokane River to fight out another battle with The Gonzaga Bulldogs. The Cougs entered 13 different lineups to the 2 heats of racing and had the largest travel group since 2017. On the Varsity side the 1V picked up a lot of speed from Head of the Snake and turned a 32.1 second gap between the respective 8’s into a 11 second gap between the 8’s. The Varsity fielded 3 8’s for the first heat and then split into 3 4’s for the second. The 4’s saw a lot of successes placing 2nd, 4th, and 5th among the 6 entries. The Novice side saw their first racing by 8’s as well as their first travel Regatta. They handled all of this well in the 1st Novice 8 by closing their respective gap between them and the Gonzaga 1st Novice 8. Lots of learning to come in the coming weeks as we start to wrap up our time on The Snake for the year and transition into building the fitness in The Fieldhouse. The Varsity Coug’s travel to The Montlake Cut on November 3rd to race in the 44th annual Head of The Lake Regatta.
