WWU DUAL

Washington State raced Western Washington in Pullman on Friday, March 31 in the afternoon.  This race was moved up a day to avoid the poor forecasted Saturday conditions.

Distance: 2,000m
Conditions: Flat to light chop. 2-6mph cross-headwind. Slight head current.

Kyle Hole - Sophomore V8:

We are always told to put ourselves in a position to succeed and we did that on Friday. We put the tech work we’ve been doing on the water into action during the race. This tech foundation will allow us to build speed throughout the spring and build off this performance

Archer Plotz - Junior 2V8:

Our coach teaches us to take advantage of every stroke and that was extremely evident during our race day. From the moment we sat in our boat, to when we stepped out of it, everyone put 100% in - and the energy was there to support it. This duel against Western was a great foundation to start the racing season and we are looking foward to the next one.

Frank Coddington - Freshman N8:

As a novice crew, we drew up a race plan and executed it cleanly. I’m very proud of the boat’s grit and determination against Western, jumping off the start line quickly and never letting a meter go. With a couple of things in mind to work on, we’re hungry and ready going into the rest of the season.

Matthew Nitchman - Freshman 2N8:

For the first race of the spring season, our duel against Western was definitely an exciting one. To feel all the long hours of practice in the freezing cold, used up in a short 7 minutes gave a great feeling of satisfaction felt throughout the whole boat. After the race, it was beneficial to reflect with teammates on the ups and downs of the race, providing feedback for each other, preparing us for the rest of season.
